In his first race with the X-treme Drag Racing League (X-DRL) at its debut appearance at Bristol Dragway, Pro X-treme standout Frankie Taylor left an immediate impression at X-DRL Thunder Valley Madness.

Bristol Dragway, one of the country’s most popular and unique facilities, is known for hosting a wide-range of distinctive events that are enormously appealing to spectators.

That is particularly true with the upcoming April 26-27 Thunder Valley Madness, which is the X-Treme Drag Racing League’s debut event at Bristol Dragway.

Chris Johnson kicked off the 2013 DER Bracket Racing season with a big win in Super Pro action last weekend at Bristol Dragway.

Johnson, of Maryville, Tenn., drove to Saturday’s win over Rogersville’s Buddy Fleenor with a .007 reaction time and a 4.895 elapsed time (4.89 dial-in) at 136.25 mph. Fleenor’s runner-up effort featured a .012 reaction time with a 5.003 ET (4.99 dial-in) at 139.95 mph.

The second round of the 13^th season of Street Fights presented by ZRock 99.3 pulls into the staging lanes this Thursday, April 4 highlighted by THE FIRST POWER HOUR of the year!

Street Fights presented by ZRock 99.3 returns to Thunder Valley for another spectacular season of the hottest street-legal racing action around. 

With the 2013 season in the staging lanes, Bristol Dragway fans have one more reason to get excited about what lies ahead. Mother Nature took care of Saturday’s action during the DER Bracket Racing Series at Bristol Dragway, forcing drivers to race hard on Sunday to rack up points leading in to this weekend’s season finale.

Randy Chestnut and David Horton muscled their way to victory during last weekend’s Mopar Thunder at Bristol Dragway. Chestnut earned the Super Pro victory by defeating Joseph Hartsell of Stanfield, N.C. in the final round when both drivers ran faster than their dial-ins.

Mopar muscle rumbles through Thunder Valley during the 13th Annual Mopar Thunder Aug. 31- Sept. 2 at Bristol Dragway, an event that is the ultimate playground for Mopar maniacs.    

Everything begins Friday evening with the always-exciting Mopar vs. The World.  During this event some of the fastest Mopars will take on all comers to prove they own Thunder Valley. Fans should cheer on their favorites against the incoming Fords and Chevys.  

Due to a scheduling conflict, Bristol Dragway officials have canceled the Dragbike Shootout scheduled for August 10-12.

While the Dragbike Shootout may no longer be on the schedule, fans still have plenty of options when it comes to the 2012 season in Thunder Valley.

AHDRA gears up for one of the biggest events of the year at the upcoming Screamin’ Eagle Performance Parts Thunder in the Valley Nationals. 

During last month’s Ford NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, Blake Alexander made his Bristol debut behind the wheel of a nitro Funny Car. It wasn’t his first trip through Thunder Valley, however, as Alexander is just one of the many professional racers who started a career in Junior Dragsters.

Drag race fans ready to see the sport’s next generation of stars should head to Thunder Valley July 21-22 for the Huddleston Performance Junior Nationals presented by Mike Bos Chassis Craft.

Before the first race car touched the track, Mark Oswald and Brian Corradi tuned their way to a victory in the Ninth Annual Bristol Dragway Celebrity Golf Benefit presented by Alpha Natural Resources Thursday at the Country Club of Bristol.

Their team posted a 53 to win the tournament, which raised more than $36,000 to benefit the Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities. Mike Neff’s team also scored 53, but lost the tiebreaker.

Big money bracket racing returns to Bristol Dragway May 17-20 with a few additions sure to make racers happy during the third annual K&N Spring Fling 20’s. The event features four days of racing with a $12,500-to-win race on Thursday, and three $20,000-to-win races Friday through Sunday.

Being perfect is hard to do, but for those able to pull it off at Taco Bell® Street Fights on Thursday, May 10, a free season pass will be the reward.

Power Hour returns to Taco Bell Street Fights on Thursday, May 3 with a new format which is sure to increase the drama and importance of this all-out, run what ya’ brung event.  

For 2012, five Power Hours will be scheduled throughout the season, giving the region’s baddest street cars an opportunity to flex their muscle in front of the crazy Street Fights crowd.

Super Pro competition during last weekend’s DER Bracket Racing series at Bristol Dragway was dominated by Kellie Shortridge and Lauren Freer.

Shortridge earned Saturday’s win by racing to victory over Claude Hall of Mt. Carmel. The Mooresburg resident left the line with a .019 reaction time and finished the pass in 4.876 sec. (4.85 dial-in) at 131.92 mph. Hall’s runner-up effort was a 5.187 elapsed time (5.14 dial-in) at 133.34 mph.

Jason Scruggs’ latest win in the American Drag Racing League (ADRL) is one he won’t soon forget.

With his ’63 Corvette echoing through Thunder Valley, Scruggs won for the seventh time in Pro Extreme, running 3.675 at 205.72 miles per hour to beat Tommy D’Aprile in the finals of the ADRL Spring Drags III at Bristol Dragway.

While Bristol Dragway’s inaugural American Drag Racing League event, the April 20-21 Spring Drags III, has become one of the most anticipated new events on the Thunder Valley schedule, there is one feature of the event that takes the excitement to another level.

Bristol marks the second appearance for the radical new SuperCar Showdown, a class which highlights the latest factory-produced, dealership-available automobiles racing with no handicap starts or performance restrictions. Bo Butner drove a Ford Mustang to victory over his teammate Chris Holbrook, also in a Mustang, in the debut of the new class at the ADRL season opener in Houston.

Adding to Bristol Dragway’s reputation of being one of the country’s elite drag racing facilities, the American Drag Racing League is set for its debut race, the Spring Drags III, an event which will rock Thunder Valley April 20-21 with an all-out display of unmatched doorslammer action.

The 2012 Ford Thunder Valley Nationals presented by the Tri-Cities Area Ford Dealers once again return to the popular Father’s Day weekend slot on the schedule. Thunder Valley will welcome the stars of the NHRA June 15-17, 2012 in what has become one of the most anticipated stops on the calendar for both drivers and fans.

While it may have looked like a Ford ending the day in the Super Chevy Show Winner's Circle during Sunday’s Bracket I competition at Bristol Dragway, a Chevy engine sat under the hood of Van Greer’s Ford Escort.

That engine, which powered the blue Ford to the win, was all that was needed to make the car eligible for competition last weekend.

For the greatest thrill show around, head to Bristol Dragway Sept. 24 for Fas Mart Thunder Valley Mayhem presented by Beef O’ Brady’s Family Sports Restaurant. With flames, destruction and extreme speed, no other event in the region comes close to matching Thunder Valley Mayhem.  

Thunder Valley Mayhem, known for its thrill-a-minute action, will include some of racing’s craziest machines and outrageous personalities in an evening of edge-of-the-seat entertainment.

Last season, Thunder Valley hosted one of the most successful and well-attended Super Chevy Shows of the year. In 2011, Bristol Dragway officials look to make the event even bigger.

To help streamline the registration process, Dragway and Super Chevy officials ask that all Keisler Engineering car show and Thompson metal swap meet and car corral participants use the South Entrance of Bristol Motor Speedway when arriving for the Super Chevy Show presented by GM Performance Division. The South Entrance is located on Highway 11E/Volunteer Parkway.

Ford power will be on display at the Fas Mart Street Fights Series Thursday, Sept. 15 as the company once again joins the popular street-legal drag racing series as sponsor of Ford Night. 

Street Fights is the perfect opportunity for everyone to put their vehicle to the test. From station wagons and mini-vans to high-power American muscle and import tuners, there is something for everyone. 

Sunday turned out to be a great day for anyone named Allen who also happened to be behind the wheel of a Mopar-powered machine during last weekend’s Mopar Thunder at Bristol Dragway.

Allen Walker of Reidsville, N.C. drove his 1965 Plymouth Satellite to the win in Super Pro action, defeating C.G. Buchanan of Marietta, S.C. in the process.

The 12th Annual Mopar Thunder takes place September 2-4 in Thunder Valley and will be the ultimate showcase for Mopar muscle.

Bristol Dragway officials have elected to postpone the Fas Mart Street Fights event originally scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 18 until a later date due to the upcoming August NASCAR race weekend.

Racers from across the country descended upon Thunder Valley last weekend for the Mike Bos Junior Dragster Nationals presented by Huddleston Performance, the kick off for a week full of Jr. Dragster action at Bristol Dragway.

In monster truck racing, no truck stands taller or flies higher than the mean, green wrecking machine itself, Grave Digger. On July 30, “Digger” makes its Bristol Motor Speedway debut.

Everyone loves monster trucks, but at this year’s event, fans will have something extra to cheer for when the metal-mashing begins. Fan-favorite Grave Digger®, known as the world’s most famous monster truck, will make its debut in what is sure to be a high-flying, car-crushing good time on July 30 at BMS.

Bristol Dragway’s Fas Mart Street Fights is known for attracting vehicles of all kinds to Thunder Valley, and at Tennessee National Guard Night on July 21, spectators will get to see another…Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s No. 88 National Guard show car.  

Fans will be able to get up close and take a look at Earnhardt Jr.’s office and find out what makes it tick. Tennessee National Guard personnel also will be on hand at this exciting Street Fights event.

The World Footbrake Challenge celebrates its fifth season July 15-17 in Thunder Valley with its biggest event yet. The best footbrake racers in the country are set to slug it out for a few large checks in this big-money bracket race.

The race features a purse structure that will reward the winner of each race day (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) with a hefty $10,000 prize.

Thunder Valley will rumble with the sound of Ford horsepower during the July 9-10 Ford Blue Oval Bash at Bristol Dragway.

Moore who raced Pro Mods at Bristol Dragway earlier in his career will mix his knowledge of straight-line racing with the world of monster trucks in this exciting event.

Robert Hight raced to his fourth Funny Car victory of the season Sunday and in the process set the national speed record at the Ford NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals presented by Tri-Cities Area Ford Dealers.

Larry Dixon (Top Fuel) and Mike Edwards (Pro Stock) also were winners at Bristol Dragway in the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series.

Bob Tasca raced to the No. 1 qualifying position in Funny Car Saturday at the Ford NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals presented by Tri-Cities Area Ford Dealers.

Brandon Bernstein (Top Fuel) and Allen Johnson (Pro Stock) also will lead their respective categories into Sunday’s noon eliminations as No. 1 qualifiers at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series event.

Tasca set both ends of the Bristol Dragway track performance record with a powerful pass of 4.056 seconds at 314.31 mph in his Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Shelby Mustang. It is Tasca’s second No. 1 qualifying position of his career and first since taking the top spot at the 2009 Gatornationals. He will face rookie Daniel Wilkerson in the opening round of eliminations.

Mike Neff started his Ford Thunder Valley Nationals weekend on a high note—taking the first trophy in Bristol by posting the low score in the Eighth Annual Bristol Dragway Celebrity Golf Benefit presented by Alpha Natural Resources Thursday at the Country Club of Bristol.

Neff and his team posted a 52 to win the tournament, which raised more than $28,000 to benefit the Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities.

As it turns out, driving an 8,000 horsepower Funny Car is just like riding a bicycle for NHRA driver Mike Neff. After a season out of the seat, Neff is back behind the wheel and at the top of his game as he prepares for the June 17-19 Ford Thunder Valley Nationals presented by the Tri-Cities Area Ford Dealers.

After a successful career as a crew chief, John Force Racing hired Neff to drive one of its Funny Cars in late 2007. Following two full-time seasons behind the wheel in 2008 and 2009, a loss of sponsorship forced Neff to pick up the wrenches once again, but this time, as crew chief for Force in 2010.

Sunday, June 19 at the Ford NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals presented by the Tri-Cities Area Ford Dealers, race fans have the rare chance to walk the length of Bristol Dragway, something no die-hard fan will want to miss, while honoring the memory of Jeff Byrd, former track President and General Manager.

Legendary NHRA competitor Kenny Bernstein, one of Byrd’s closest friends, and NHRA announcer Bob Frey will lead the walk down the famed Thunder Valley track. Former Nitro pilot Whit Bazemore, who received his break in to the sport from Byrd, also will be out front for the walk. 

Life would be so much easier if money fell from the sky. On June 2, during the Fas Mart Street Fights event in Thunder Valley, life will become a little easier for a few fans, as cash will rain down from atop the control tower during the always-popular money drop. 

At the event, fans should visit the Bristol Dragway gaming trailer to enter for their chance to be selected to compete in the promotion. 

Nearly two-dozen NHRA competitors will sign autographs and meet with fans during Bristol Dragway’s Fan Fest, set to take place after the conclusion of Pro Qualifying at the Ford Thunder Valley Nationals on Saturday, June 18.

Fan Fest has become a favorite attraction in Thunder Valley, as it gives race fans even greater access to the biggest names in the sport. Among the drivers currently scheduled to appear are Larry Dixon, Del Worsham, Antron Brown, Spencer Massey, Bob Tasca, Melanie Troxel, Dave Grubnic, Greg Anderson, Jason Line and Allen Johnson.

Four different winners took home the big money during last weekend’s K&N Spring Fling 20’s at Bristol Dragway, which hosted bracket racers from across the country for the exciting event.

John Labbous, Jr., who won three of the four days last season, faced a tough opponent in the final round of Saturday’s competition, his father, Johnny Labbous, Sr. Labbous, Jr., of White House, earned the win as his father broke out on the final pass. The winning run had a .015 reaction time, combined with a 6.532 elapsed time (6.53 dial-in) at 149.58 mph. The losing run, by Goodlettsville’s Labbous, Sr., consisted of a .012 R.T., and a 6.470 E.T. (6.48 dial-in) at 158.58 mph. The win resulted in a $20,000 payday for Labbous, Jr.

After a successful inaugural event in 2010, veteran bracket racers Peter Biondo and Kyle Seipel bring the second annual K&N Spring Fling 20’s to Thunder Valley May 19-22. The event includes an opening day $12,500-to-win race on Thursday and is highlighted by $20,000-to-win races on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

For bracket racers, there is great potential to win big, just as John Labbous Jr. was able to do last season. Labbous won Thursday, Friday and Saturday and took home more than $50,000 in prize money. Hundreds of racers will attempt to mirror Labbous’ feat this year.

Bristol Dragway and Don Schumacher Racing have teamed up to offer nitro-addicted NHRA fans the ultimate drag racing hospitality package for the June 17-19 Ford Thunder Valley Nationals presented by the Tri-Cities Area Ford Dealers.

The season opened in Pomona with Southern California icon Don “The Snake” Prudhomme and then it moved east to Gainesville where fans had the chance to re-connect with local-favorite “Big Daddy” Don Garlits, NHRA’s No. 1 all-time driver. Champion drivers from the 2010 DER Racing Series season will be honored during the season-ending luncheon held Dec. 11 at the Holiday Inn Conference Center at Exit 7 in Bristol, Va.

Chris Johnson from Maryville is the 2010 Super Pro division champion, while Steve Foley of Barboursville, Ky. is the Pro division champion. Rodney Finchum from Newport claimed the Street title, with Bristol’s Aaron Roberts winning the Trophy class crown.

After race fans complete their traditional Black Friday shopping on Nov. 26, they will want to head home to catch the premiere of the Bristol Dragway edition of PINKS All Out at 8 p.m. ET on SPEED.

SPEED, which features special programming during the Thanksgiving holiday, will feature the Bristol edition during their special PINKS All Out marathon on Friday, Nov. 26.

Rich Christensen promised race fans their money’s worth if they would visit Thunder Valley during the Oct. 2 running of PINKS All Out. Christensen and crew delivered as spectators saw an amazing event which started with 64 cars running until only one was left.

Gates opened early and fans responded, pouring through the gates all day to enjoy a Saturday afternoon with perfect weather, fast cars and the famous arm drop start.

Due to increased racer demand for entry into the Oct. 1-2 PINKS All Out in Thunder Valley, Bristol Dragway officials received permission today to open 50 additional entry slots for this weekend’s event.

Competitors must be at least 18 years of age. Entries are non-transferrable and each racer is allowed one spot. Race cars must run 12.99 or faster and must follow NHRA safety guidelines. All cars must be door cars. Rail dragsters will not be accepted.

During the Sept. 25 Fas Mart Thunder Valley Mayhem presented by JanPak, Bristol Dragway will become the stomping ground for a terrifying T-Rex named Transaurus. It is the perfect place since his favorite snack is heavily toasted junk cars.

Transaurus highlights a thrill-a-minute evening during Thunder Valley Mayhem. The event also boasts two “jet trains,” the Super Shockwave jet truck, 10 nitro extreme pro mods, Benny the Bomb and the Team FMX Motocross stunt team. Transaurus, however, will stand head and shoulders above the rest..

After a highly competitive season, the DER Racing Series crowned champions in each division last weekend in Thunder Valley.

Fans of the Bowtie Brigade unite during the 30^th Annual Super Chevy Show at Bristol Dragway, September 24-26. For 30 years, the Super Chevy Show has been known for some of the most exciting bracket and exhibition racing in the country and this year is no different.

This season, the show gets even hotter as Fas Mart Thunder Valley Mayhem presented by JanPak moves from its traditional May date to Saturday night, September 25.

Bristol Dragway officials were forced to cancel Saturday's Ford Patriotism Day at the Fas Mart Street Fights  due to weather.

The next Fas Mart Street Fights Series event will take place on Thursday, Sept. 16. That race will serve as the season finale for Street Fights.

Mopar fans were treated to great weather and even better racing during last weekend’s Mopar Thunder at Bristol Dragway.

Several racers, hailing from various hometowns, were able to snag victory during the event.

For some car enthusiasts, it is Mopar or no car. For those people, the September 3-5 Mopar Thunder at Bristol Dragway is the perfect opportunity to see their favorite rides in action.

Several racing classes will give drivers the chance to race their Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler or other Mopar-badged vehicles on one of drag racing’s premier tracks. Racing action includes Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Slant 6.

Summer may be coming to an end soon, but it will be hot in Thunder Valley with Stay True Tattoo Guy's Night at Fas Mart Street Fights on Saturday, August 28.

This Street Fights will take place on Saturday evening, and use the same format as Thursday Street Fights. Gates open at 5 p.m., with racing at 6 p.m.

Thunder Valley rumbles back to life with the return of the popular All Harley Drag Racing Association Thunder in the Valley Nationals August 7-8.

Among the highlights at this event, one of the most highly-anticipated and well-attended events of AHDRA’s series, is the nitro-powered Top Fuel class which features machines that can run in excess of 230 mph. 

Racing is underway for hundreds of kids at the 2010 NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Eastern Conference Finals at Bristol Dragway.  Thunder Valley will host nearly 600 kids ages 8 to 17 years old and their families for the annual event presented by Viperizer Racing. 

Competitors in eight categories race in half-scale dragsters at speeds up to 85 mph on the eighth-mile track in search of both team and individual honors and a share of nearly $100,000 in savings bonds.

Several hundred racers descended upon Thunder Valley for last weekend’s Mike Bos Chassis Craft Nationals, which provides them an extra opportunity to tune their machines for this week’s NHRA Junior Drag Racing League Eastern Conference Finals.

Saturday’s racing took place on an index basis, while Sunday’s action was based on age categories.

Monster truck pilot Jim Koehler has earned the nickname, “Mr. Excitement,” and he intends to show the Bristol Motor Speedway crowd why during the July 29 Thompson Metal Monster Truck Madness.

Koehler, a mainstay on SPEED’s Monster Jam coverage, will maneuver his 1957 Chevy-bodied monster truck through massive obstacles during the BMS event. For him, the freestyle portion of the evening is always a highlight, and the reason he earned the “Mr. Excitement” moniker.

Drag racing fans interested in watching the sport’s future stars will want to head to Thunder Valley for the July 24-25 Mike Bos Chassis Craft Junior Dragster Nationals.

Scheduled the weekend before the July 26-31 NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Eastern Conference Finals, this event kicks off eight days of Jr. Dragster action and allows racers to gain more time on the track in preparation for the ECF. 

Bristol Motor Speedway prepares for a high-flyin’, car-crushin’ good time during the Thompson Metal Monster Truck Madness on Thursday night, July 29.

Eight of the biggest names in monster truck racing come to town for a show that will be just exciting as the ones on television. Trucks currently scheduled to appear are War Wizard, Avenger, Brutus, Equalizer, Samson, Tailgator, Raminator and Bad Habit.

Clifford Davidson, Justin Buckles and Van Greer were among the drivers who added Tennessee State Championship trophies to their collections after last Saturday’s action at the DER Racing Series event at Bristol Dragway.

Davidson, from Church Hill, defeated Todd Whited of Richlands, Va. to take home the special plaque in the Super Pro division. Davidson had a .013 reaction time, coupled with a 5.448 elapsed time (5.43 dial-in) at 123.16 mph to earn the win. Whited ran a 5.506 E.T. (5.49 dial-in) in his runner-up effort.

A few lucky winners during last weekend’s DER Racing Series events at Bristol Dragway were able to take home a special prize, a Wally trophy just like the ones given to winners at NHRA National events.

Winners during Sunday’s action received the prized trophy. Sevierville’s Dakota Wells defeated a red-lighting Frank Aldridge of Banner Elk, N.C. to win Sunday’s Super Pro competition and the Wally. Wells used a .023 R.T. and 4.856 E.T. (4.83 dial-in) at 141.73 mph on his winning pass.

John Force regained the points lead with his NHRA-record 130^th career win Sunday at the 10^th annual NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway.

The other winners at the 12^th race in the 23-race NHRA Full Throttle Series season were Tony Schumacher (Top Fuel) and Mike Edwards (Pro Stock).

Ashley Force Hood earned the provisional pole in Funny Car on the first day of qualifying Friday at the 10^th annual NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals with a 4.151-second pass at 296.70 mph.

The other provisional No. 1 qualifiers at the 12^th of 23 races in the 2010 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series season were Antron Brown (Top Fuel) and Mike Edwards (Pro Stock).

During the week, Matt Hagan is content cruising around his farm tending to the cattle and enjoying the peaceand tranquility of the Virginia countryside. During the June 18-20 NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals, fans will see him launch himself down the track in one of Don Schumacher’s ground-pounding, nitro-burning NHRA Funny Cars.

Melanie Troxel will pull double duty at this weekend's 10th annual NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals as she plans to race her Roger Burgess-owned ProCare Rx Funny Car and a brand-new In-N-Out Burger Pro Mod.

Aside from having two different chances to earn a trophy, Troxel and Burgess are hoping a busy weekend at Bristol Dragway will yield long-term results for the team.

While the Father’s Day weekend NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals will be special for many people, several families will celebrate the return of some of America’s greatest heroes during the June 18-20 event.

In cooperation with the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Johnson City, Bristol Dragway will host veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom during Final Eliminations on Sunday, June 20.

Although he’s not quite where he’d like to be at this point in the season, defending NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals Funny Car champ Del Worsham anticipates his return to the June 18-20 event will help get him there.

Luckily, Worsham says his car is up to the challenge. He just needs a few lucky breaks to find himself in the thick of the battle.

Bristol Dragway is expected to play host to racers from across the country during the May 27-30 Thunder Valley Bracket Challenge, the creation of NHRA Pro Stock winner Dave Connolly and well-known sportsman racers Jeff and Don Strickland.

Top bracket racers from across the country will do battle for a guaranteed weekend purse in excess of $300,000.

When the Super Chevy Show visits Thunder Valley this September, a new tradition will highlight the 30^th Annual event and will benefit a local charity all at the same time.

Vettes of the Smokies, along with Wellmont Health System, will host the inaugural Corvette Show on Saturday, Sept. 25.  A portion of each entry from the Corvette show will be given to the Children’s Miracle Network by Vettes of the Smokies.

While last Saturday’s activities at the DER Racing Series event in Thunder Valley were cancelled, weather held off long enough for competition to be completed in all categories on Sunday.

Chris Barker of Morehead, Ky. came up the winner in an extremely close Super Pro final round. Barker had a .009 reaction time and a 5.267 elapsed time (5.26 dial-in) at 131.05 to defeat Trevor Denton from Bristol, Va. Denton left the line with a .017 R.T. and completed his run in 4.916 seconds (4.91 dial-in).

Race fans at Air Force Night at the Thursday, May 13 Fas Mart Street Fights Series event are in for double the excitement as track officials will finish last Saturday’s Outlaws division during qualifying for Thursday night’s race.

In addition, representatives from the United States Air Force will be on hand to see if they can find the strongest person in Thunder Valley. Anyone up to the challenge should be ready to compete in physical exercises designed to show they are the best. Who knows, there may be some great prizes for those who prove themselves.

Two-wheel thunder invades Bristol Dragway during Bike Night on Thursday, May 6, while anyone looking for a last-minute Mother’s Day gift should look no further than Thunder Valley on Saturday, May 8.

Bristol Dragway serves as the kick-off for Johnson City’s Thunder in The Mountains Motorcycle Rally. Thanks to event sponsor, Smith Brothers’ Harley-Davidson, anyone through the gates on a motorcycle will be able to race for only $5.

Ford fanatics now have one more reason to head to Thunder Valley for this weekend’s Thompson Metal Services Blue Oval Bash… the chance to be on television. Bristol Dragway officials today announced that Masters Entertainment Group will be at the event on Saturday filming racing action, car show participants and the exciting Battle of the Ford Jet Cars.

On-track action will be used for upcoming episodes of Inside Drag Racing TV which airs on Sunday mornings at 11:30 a.m. and Monday afternoons at 4:30 p.m. on Fox Sports Network. The car show footage will be shown during the “Mother’s Car Show” program, also on FSN, on Sundays at 11 a.m.

John Labbous, Jr. was the big winner in last weekend’s K&N Spring Fling 20’s at Bristol Dragway. Labbous overcame tough competition, including NHRA Professional drivers Jeg Coughlin and Shawn Langdon, to earn the trifecta.

Thursday’s final round pitted Labbous’ dragster against the 1969 Camaro of bracket racing legend George Rupert. With the win, Labbous picked up a $12,500 check.

Thunder Valley shifts into high gear this week as the second event in the Fas Mart Street Fights series takes place Thursday night, April 1 and the season opener for the DER Racing Series will run Saturday, April 3.

Thursday's Street Fights is presented by Ford and will feature special Ford contests and giveaways during the event. In addition, Ford will be giving away several sets of tickets to the April 30-May 2 running of the Inaugural Blue Oval Bash at Bristol Dragway.

Bristol Dragway officials have looked through the emails and tallied the votes and the search for the new Fas Mart Street Fights Series announcer is down to four contestants.

Wesley Outland, Craig Stapleton, Reece Wheeler and Nathan Anderson will compete against each other during the Street Fights season opener on March 27 to determine who will fill the slot for the 2010 season. An old racing class will show off a few new tricks during the 2010 Fas Mart Street Fights Series in Thunder Valley. 

Power Hour will be renamed the Fas Mart Street Fight Outlaws and will feature the fastest cars squaring off for the top prize each night.

NHRA officials will be in Thunder Valley on Saturday, April 3 to conduct chassis certifications for the 2010 season.

An inspection fee of $150 will be collected for each car certified.

Fans ready to experience the smell of nitro fumes at the June 18-20 Thunder Valley Nationals have one more payment option to make their trip to Bristol a little easier.

Now through Jan. 2, Speedway In Lights guests will receive $2 off the admission price due to special promotions taking place Sundays through Thursdays throughout the show.

Even Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane could not slow down the Mopar gang in town for last weekend's Thompson Metal Mopar Thunder at Bristol Dragway.

Action began on Friday night with the popular Mopar vs. The World. Steve Foley of Barbourville, Ky. took home the top prize over Tony Johnson of Dandridge. The race was extremely close with Foley running a 7.541 elapsed time on a 7.54 dial-in to Johnson's 7.717 E.T. on a 7.71 dial-in. Foley left the line just a bit faster, using a .051 reaction time to Johnson's .056 R.T.

NHRA officials today announced several changes for the 2010 Full Throttle Drag Racing Series schedule, including a new date for the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway. One of the most popular stops on the calendar, Thunder Valley will host the stars of the NHRA June 18-20, 2010.
