The winner's circle at Saturday's Sunoco Thunder Valley Shootouts finale at Bristol Dragway looked more like a family reunion than the conclusion of a day at the races.

Junior Houston and his father, Vance, defeated opponent after opponent and met in the final round of Super Pro action. Vance's grandson and Junior's nephew, Denver Maltba, also took home top honors in Junior Dragster Division II.

A host of new faces came to Thunder Valley in an attempt to upset Larry Snead's continued domination of the new Charter Communications Bristol Bandits. The Bristol native collected his third straight win by defeating Rogersville's Adam Phipps in the final. Snead's 1985 Ford EXP left the line with a .006 R.T. and ran the track in 9.049 seconds at 138.64 mph. The 1999 Monte Carlo of Phipps had a .015 R.T. and recorded a 9.090 second run at 126.85 mph.

Blountville's Josh Wyatt drove his 1990 Mustang to the win in Pro over the 1972 Nova of Neal Church from Boone, N.C. Wyatt used a .058 R.T. and a 7.138 E.T. at 94.31 to oust his opponent. Church had a .088 R.T. with a 6.386 E.T. at 105.68 mph.

Bristol, Va.'s Ben Denton won First Class Travel Junior Dragster Division II when Katie Cundiff from Gray went faster than her dial-in and received a disqualification.
