On Thursday, April 24, guests in Thunder Valley will witness money dropping from the top of the tower while times drop on the scoreboard as Virginia Lasers Night comes to Bristol Dragway's Street Fights.
It's everybody's dream - money falling from the sky - but for a lucky few it'll become a reality as they'll get the opportunity to cram their pockets full of cash. Fans can visit the Bristol Dragway gaming trailer and enter for their chance to be selected to compete in the money drop.
Once selected, participants will stand in the "drop zone" in front of the control tower. Anyone not in the contest should watch out, however, as all rules are off when the money flies. Participants have been known to race over everything in their paths, including the beautiful Bristol Dragway landscaping.
To cap the excitement, the Virginia Laser Real Street Shootout will pit the fastest 16 street cars in two eight-car brackets. The last one standing takes it all! The Real Street Shootout will run in place of the Charter Bandits during this one-time event.
The Real Street Shootout rules indicate that each car must have both front seats, carpet, and be D.O.T. legal.
Gates open at 5 p.m., with racing set to begin at 6 p.m. Admission is $5 for spectators. For only $10, anyone can take their own street-legal vehicle down the legendary Thunder Valley quarter-mile.
Street Fighters also are welcome to visit Bristol Dragway on Saturday, April 26 during the Sprint High School Nationals. Street Fight participants can race in open time trials throughout the day. Only High School Nationals racers are eligible to take home part of the $5,000 in scholarship money.
