The King of the Strip will be added to Street Fights events on Thursday, May 29 and Thursday, June 12. In addition, event organizers have opted to discontinue the cruise portion of the event because of rising fuel prices. Team Hurley USA's Allen Hurley made the move to help racers continue doing what they love.
"The King of the Strip True Street Challenge is a fun event, and we want everyone involved to enjoy their time here in Thunder Valley," explained Hurley. "Pressure at the pump is impacting everyone right now, and we didn't want this to diminish the racers' enjoyment."
The King of the Strip class features some of the baddest rides in the area and allows them to be unleashed at Bristol Dragway to determine the true King (or Queen) of Thunder Valley.
With awesome prizes available each week, and big money available to the champions at the end of the year, now is your time to come and take aim at the leaders.
Nightly prizes include a Mac Tools toolbox, a $250 gift certificate to Shaffer Performance, a $250 Borla gift certificate, Blue Tooth/Cell phone packages and Satellite Radio packages.
At each of the scheduled True Street events, prizes will be given away to the winners and drivers will receive points through a special points system. At the end of the season, the competitor with the most points in each class index walks away with an extra $1,000 in their pocket.
True Street competition will take place after regular Street Fights action, giving everyone an opportunity to race without losing time on the track. To compete, racers will first select one of six class indexes (9 second through 14 second). The racers will then make three trips down the track. The times from these three passes are averaged, with the closest to the class index winning the race.
True Street cars must be in line and ready to compete by 6:00 for the May 29 and June 12 events. Admission to compete in the King of the Strip True Street Challenge is $20. Racers can compete in both Street Fights and King of the Strip for $25. As a way of saying thanks, Bristol Dragway officials are allowing FREE entry into the King of the Strip event on May 29.
