From exciting bracket racing and a car show to the Dukes of Hazzard's General Lee and Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane, Thompson Metal Mopar Thunder returns to Thunder Valley September 4-6 with everything fans of Chrysler machines want and much more.

On Saturday, James Best, better known as his character Rosco from the Dukes of Hazzard, will be on hand to talk with fans about what it was like to chase those Duke boys.

In addition, all weekend several replicas of the General Lee, the object of Best's frustrations, will be on display for fans to sit in and have their picture taken during the event. Also, for those that want to know what it's like to be a Duke boy, we will be offering rides in a General Lee!"

Several racing classes will give drivers the opportunity to race their Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler or other Mopar-badged vehicle on one of drag racing's most popular tracks.  The classes taking on the strip include Super Pro, Pro (4.50-UP No Electronics), and Sportsman.

Mopar Thunder also will feature the always-popular Mopar vs. The World race on Friday evening.  This race allows the mighty Mopars to take on all comers, as any car from any manufacturer is eligible to compete. Mopar fans will want to come cheer their favorites to victory over the invading machines.

A Mopar car show will fill the Dragway grounds and offer fans a chance to view some of their favorites from years ago.

A visit to the swap meet, car corral and Manufacturers' Midway will give spectators and participants the opportunity to purchase the hard-to-find items they have been looking to buy for their Mopar, no matter its age.

On Friday, gates open at 9 a.m. with a test and tune session beginning at noon.  Mopar vs. The World will begin at 6 p.m.  Spectator admission is only $10 for the day.

Spectator gates open at 9 a.m. on Saturday, with time trials for bracket cars starting at 10 a.m.  Car show judging begins at noon, and bracket eliminations kick off at 3 p.m. Car show winners and awards will be announced at 6 p.m.

On Sunday, gates open at 8 a.m., followed by a church service open to everyone at 9 a.m.  Time trials begin at 10 a.m., and the first round of eliminations is scheduled to start at noon.

Admission for Saturday and Sunday is $20 each day.  A weekend pass is available for $35, and children under 10 are free with a paying adult.
