For NHRA competitors, driving is second nature. At least driving a car is - when it comes to driving a golf ball that's a different story.

Prior to the Ford Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway June 14-16, that is exactly what many of them will do when they participate in the 10th Annual Bristol Dragway Celebrity Golf Benefit in support of Speedway Children's Charities.

Held at the Country Club of Bristol, the event gives each team of four the chance to partner with an NHRA celebrity for an afternoon on the links as they compete for the coveted Darrell Russell Cup. All proceeds benefit the Bristol Chapter of SCC.

Among the drivers and crew chiefs currently set to compete are 2013 tournament are Mike Neff, Shawn Langdon, Allen Johnson, Greg Anderson, Jason Line, Morgan Lucas, Clay Millican, Del Worsham, Chad Head and Leah Pruett.

Last year's tournament featured several NHRA celebrities and raised more than $30,000 for various children's charities throughout Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.

Sponsored by BAE Systems, Frito Lay, Regions Bank, Quik Stop Markets, and Pepsi, the tournament begins with registration at 11 a.m.  Lunch is scheduled for noon with a shotgun start slated for 1 p.m.

A limited number of slots remain available.  Hole sponsorship is $1,500, which includes a four-person team and signage on the sponsored hole. Teams also may be purchased for $1,200 without a hole sponsorship. All team members will receive a goody bag, golfer's gift and lunch.
