One of Thunder Valley’s most popular events, the AHDRA Thunder in the Valley Nationals, wrapped up last weekend with exciting two wheel action from some of the world’s fastest Harley-Davidsons.

Steve Dorn from Milwaukie, Ore. rode his nitro-powered rocket to the victory in Screamin’ Eagle Top Fuel over John Breckenridge of Sultan, Wash. Dorn had a slower reaction off the line with a .045 reaction time compared to Breckenridge’s .008 R.T. However, Breckenridge slowed at the top end, allowing Dorn to squeeze by for the win with a 6.507 elapsed time at 213.64 mph.

Jake Stordeur from Coveland, Ohio defeated Joe Timmons of Salt Lake City, Utah in the final round of the Rush Pro Fuel category. Stordeur had a .121 R.T. against Timmons’ .099, but was able to make up the difference as Timmons slowed up track. Stordeur flashed through the line with a 6.926 R.T. at 204.05 mph.

Shaun Reno from Hayes, Va. rode his Buell to victory in the Pro Stock ranks over John Marinelli from Debary, Fla. Reno left the line with a slower .177 R.T., while Marinelli took off with a .019 R.T. At the stripe, however, the win went to Reno riding an 8.359 E.T. at 155.56 mph to get the better of Marinelli’s 8.943 E.T. at 151.66 mph.

Joe Sternotti of West Collingswood, N.J. took the Pro Gas category over Keith Browne of Semora, N.C. Sternotti took off with a .055 R.T. and never looked back, covering the quarter-mile in 7.451 seconds at 178.78 mph. Browne rode through the stripe in 9.280 seconds at 116.93 mph.

Scott Truett of Wichita, Kan. defeated Bill Purvis from Lafayette, La. in the Pro Drag final. Truett used a .051 R.T. and a 7.633 E.T. at 173.87 mph to send Purvis packing. Purvis’  run had a .173 R.T. coupled with a 9.609 E.T. at 89.08 mph.

Bruce Croneberger from Cressona, Pa. edged out Bruce Chandler of Irving, N.Y. in a closely contested Pro Mod final. Croneberger had the slower reaction, a .042 light to Chandler’s .025, but was able to edge Chandler at the top end. Croneberger ran an 8.651 E.T. at 150.31 mph to Chandler’s 8.694 E.T. at 154.42 mph.

Mike Roberts of Clinton, Ohio defeated Charley Douglass from Staunton, Va. in another close match-up. Roberts left with a .119 E.T. and cruised to the line first with a 9.112 E.T. at 146.45 mph. Douglass finished second with a .074 R.T. and a 9.168 E.T. at 149.18 mph.

Other winners during the Thunder in the Valley Nationals include: Chaz Kennedy of Ormond Beach, Fla. (Super Gas); Donnie Huffman from Lakeland, Fla. (Super Sport); Croneberger (Hot Street); Jim Sweet from Osceola, Ind. (V-Rod); Keith Carper from Laurel, Md. (SEP); Dale Nilles from Arvada, Colo. (Destroyer); Erik Nelson from Canton, Ohio (SYN 3 ET)
