Trevor Denton earned a Super Pro victory during last Saturday’s DER Bracket Series, while Mother Nature was the big winner for most of Sunday’s action.

Denton, from Bristol, Va., defeated Lauren Freer of Lewisville, N.C. in Saturday’s final round. Denton had a .014 reaction time and a 4.904 elapsed time (4.89 dial-in) at 139.40 mph to trailer Freer. Freer’s run was a 6.013 E.T. (5.99 dial-in) with a .039 R.T.

Brandon Bailey of Glade Spring, Va. knocked off Bluff City’s Randy Walters to earn the Pro win on Saturday. Bailey’s winning run consisted of a .039 R.T. and a 9.699 E.T. (9.67 dial-in) at 73.06 mph. Walters ran faster than his dial (7.423 E.T. on a 7.44 dial-in) to send himself home.

The Street category was decided on a red light as Rodney Finchum of Newport left too soon, giving Kingsport’s Van Greer the victory. Greer drove his 1985 Suburban to the win with a .013 light, coupled with a 17.202 E.T. (17.16 dial-in) at 75.97 mph.

Michael Hicks earned the Trophy division over Mark Williams of Kingsport. The Bristol, Va. native drove to the win with a .065 R.T. and a 17.257 E.T. (17.22 dial-in) at 75.28 mph.

Bluff City’s Jerry Turner overcame a starting line disadvantage to earn the Motorcycle victory. Mike Conley of Jonesborough left the line with a quick .008 R.T., but Turner ran closer to his dial (6.006 E.T. on a 5.97 dial-in) to snatch victory from Conley. Conley’s run was a 7.850 second (7.77 dial-in) pass.

Gabe Ellison of Rogersville earned the Junior Dragster Division I title over Dylan Howard from Corryton, while Bluff City’s Austin Roberts won Junior Dragster Division II against Tyler White of Newport.

Weather washed out the action before racing could be completed on Sunday afternoon. One class, however, was able to race to completion.

Matthew Hicks of Abingdon, Va. earned the win after Aaron Roberts of Bluff City red-lighted at the start. Hicks’ run had an impressive .004 R.T. and a 17.316 E.T. (17.28 dial-in) at 78.15 mph.

Bristol Dragway returns to action as the stars of the NHRA come to town for the June 18-20 Thunder Valley Nationals. Friday night features the exciting night qualifying round, while more than 20 drivers will take part in Fan Fest during Saturday’s activities.
