With three IHRA wins as driver in his Funny Car, eight NHRA Pro wins and four runner-up finishes as an owner at the famed Bristol Dragway, Don Schumacher earned his place as one of Thunder Valley's legends.

At the top of his driving game in the 1970s, Schumacher won five NHRA national event titles, nine IHRA titles and the 1973 American Hot Rod Association World Championship.

Following the 1974 season, the decorated driver retired from the track to focus on his family, but re-entered drag racing in the late 1990s after his son Tony began showing an interest in the sport.

The team's first full year of racing came in 1999, earning their first NHRA Top Fuel world title just four years later.

Eventually growing to the largest team in NHRA drag racing, Don Schumacher Racing holds 11 NHRA world championships and 225 event titles among its seven drivers - eight of those coming in Thunder Valley.

Whether as a driver or a car owner, "The Shoe" has posted legendary numbers for more than four decades.
