Four different winners took home the big money during last weekend’s K&N Spring Fling 20’s at Bristol Dragway, which hosted bracket racers from across the country for the exciting event.

John Labbous, Jr., who won three of the four days last season, faced a tough opponent in the final round of Saturday’s competition, his father, Johnny Labbous, Sr. Labbous, Jr., of White House, earned the win as his father broke out on the final pass. The winning run had a .015 reaction time, combined with a 6.532 elapsed time (6.53 dial-in) at 149.58 mph. The losing run, by Goodlettsville’s Labbous, Sr., consisted of a .012 R.T., and a 6.470 E.T. (6.48 dial-in) at 158.58 mph. The win resulted in a $20,000 payday for Labbous, Jr.

Sunday’s $20,000 winner was J.P. Hickman of Bradenton, Fla. Hickman took the victory over Derek Denney from Pleasant View. Hickman’s .021 R.T. and a 6.484 E.T. (6.45 dial-in) at 149.91 mph were good enough to snatch victory from Denney’s .037 R.T. and 7.670 E.T. (7.65 dial-in) at 134.19 mph.  

Kevin Brannon from Boiling Springs, S.C. won Friday’s $20,000 final when his opponent Shane Maddox from Piedmont, S.C. turned on the red-light at the starting line. After a .012 R.T., Brannon ran hard to the line with a 4.655 E.T. (4.66 dial-in) at 146.86 mph. Maddox went red by .008 sec. and ran agonizingly close to his dial-in, a 4.782 E.T. on a 4.78 dial.

Wyatt Colbert from Mechanicsville, Va. earned $12,500 for his win in Thursday’s final round. Colbert defeated Roy St. Denis of Oxford, Mich. with a .001 R.T. and a 6.410 E.T. (6.38 dial-in) at 157.32 mph. St. Denis turned in a .016 R.T. and an 8.244 E.T. (8.22 dial-in) at 125.30 mph on his run.

Thunder Valley returns to action with Ford Night at the Fas Mart Street Fights Series on Thursday, May 26. Gates open at 5 p.m., with racing set for 6 p.m.
