Officials with the American Drag Racing League (ADRL) and Bristol Dragway announced the popular series will make its debut appearance at Thunder Valley in 2012.

Bristol’s inaugural event, the ADRL Spring Drags III, will take place on April 20-21 as some of the nation’s best doorslammer competitors invade Thunder Valley to battle for an important win at the historic track.

“We always say we have the most diverse and exciting schedule in drag racing, and this ADRL event certainly is proof of that,” said Jerry Caldwell, Bristol Dragway Executive Vice-President and General Manager. “We know our fans will fully support this event and make it one of the biggest on our calendar. The ADRL at the country’s premier drag racing facility; it’s the perfect fit.”

ADRL events feature lightning-quick action from some of the fastest eighth-mile drag racers in the world. The 2012 ADRL schedule consists of 10 events, including another inaugural event at Bristol’s sister track, zMAX Dragway in Charlotte.

Jeff Fortune, ADRL Executive Vice President, said the 2012 series schedule includes stops at some of the most important host tracks in the country.

“The 2012 schedule is a tremendous step for the ADRL,” Fortune said. “Not only are we going to the greatest drag strips and best markets in the world, but we also have had such tremendous support from the track operators in preparing the schedule and developing our plans for 2012.”

Based in O’Fallon, Mo., the ADRL is the world’s premier sanctioning body for the sport of eighth-mile drag racing. The professional categories featured in the ADRL are Pro Extreme, the quickest doorslammer class in all of drag racing, Pro Nitrous, Extreme 10.5, Pro Extreme Motorcycle, Extreme Pro Stock, Top Sportsman and Pro Junior Dragster.

“A fantastic season starts with a great schedule,” Fortune added. “I think everyone can look forward to the biggest and most exciting year ever from the ADRL in 2012.”
