Taco Bell Announced as New Street Fights Sponsor; Season Opener March 31
Bristol Dragway officials today announced Taco Bell® as the title sponsor for Street Fights, the ever-popular street-legal drag racing series.
Entering its 12th season in Thunder Valley, Taco Bell® Street Fights presented by ZROCK 99.3 is the place for anyone with a need for speed to take racing to the track. Any street-legal vehicle can participate at Street Fights and there are no limitations on skill, as long as the racer has a valid driver’s license.
“Bristol Dragway is one of the premiere entertainment venues in Eastern Tennessee and we are excited to be affiliated with it through the electrifying Street Fight series. There is a lot of overlap between the Street Fight racers and attendees and our Taco Bell® customers and team members in the Tri-Cities area, so the partnership is a natural extension for us,” said Marjorie Perlman, VP of Marketing for Tacala, LLC, the Taco Bell® franchisee in the Tri-Cities.
Jerry Caldwell, Executive Vice-President and General Manager of Bristol Motor Speedway and Dragway, is excited to see more support for the grassroots racing series.
“We are proud of the Taco Bell® Street Fights series and we are pleased that a company like Taco Bell® recognizes the significance of it as well,” said Caldwell. “We have seen the dangers of illegal street racing played out, and with this program, we are able to encourage people to race in a more secure, organized environment and not on the road.
“We have an experienced staff that will help anyone who comes to Thunder Valley with all of the guidance and instruction necessary to enjoy their time at Bristol Dragway. We are appreciative that Taco Bell® also understands the importance of this program and we look forward to building a strong relationship with them while also having a lot of fun at the same time.”
As part of the sponsorship, Taco Bell® will give away a gift card at every Street Fights event. Anyone who brings a Taco Bell® receipt will be entered to win the gift card that night.
Racers under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian sign a release waiver which is good for the length of the 2012 season.
Taco Bell® Street Fights presented by ZROCK 99.3 begin with the season opener on Saturday, March 31. Anyone who shows a Taco Bell® receipt can race for free and be entered to win season passes good for the entire 2012 season. On March 31, gates open at noon, with racing set to begin at 1 p.m.
Spectator admission is $5, while anyone without a Taco Bell® receipt can challenge Thunder Valley for $10.
