Power Hour, 150-MPH Club Slated for Final Thursday Night Street Fight of 2013 Season
Fans of Street Fights get another shot at a Frito-Lay buy-one-get-one-free opportunity for the last Thursday night event of 2013. Anyone eager to witness the region's fiercest rides challenge the iconic quarter-mile can present a Frito-Lay product purchased at their local Food City store and receive two general admission tickets for the price of one at the Sept. 19 event.
Along with allowing all street-legal vehicles to test their chops on the straight strip, Street Fights presented by ZRock 99.3 also features the return of Power Hour and gives racers another chance to join the 150 MPH Club.
Showcasing the region's fastest street-legal machines, Power Hour pits the night's eight baddest rides in a best two-out-of-three grudge match with victors taking home a trophy that declares their dominance at Bristol Dragway.
Prior to eliminations, two qualifying rounds will be held to set the ladder of eight cars. The ninth and tenth qualifiers will be placed on standby in the event any of the qualified entries are unable to make the first round. Anyone can participate in Power Hour, but racers interested in accumulating points for the year-end championship must register at the gate prior to the first qualifying match. Bristol Dragway will not go back and pick up points following a run.
Racers can also test their need for speed by attempting to secure a spot in the track's 150 MPH Club. Anyone who completes a run at, or quicker than, the night's 150 mile per hour requirements receives a special club decal and reserves their place as one of the quickest machines in the Valley.
Gates open Thursday at 5 p.m. with racing starting at 6 p.m. Cost to participate is $10 to race, $15 for trailered cars and $5 for spectators.
The DER Racing Series is also slated for action this weekend at Bristol Dragway, kicking off Friday, Sept. 20 at 4 p.m. with time trials slated for 5:30 p.m. Gates open Saturday at 10 a.m. with time trials beginning at noon and eliminations immediately following.
