Thunder Valley roars to life this weekend with the first Street Fights presented by ZRock 99.3 of the season slated for March 30.

This is the 13th season of Street Fights presented by ZRock 99.3 and like every year before it, the street-legal action only gets more intense in 2013. As always, Bristol Dragway is THE ultimate hangout when it comes to fast rides, wild promotions and awesome giveaways.

A new addition this year, which is certain to be a big hit with younger drivers, is the Street Fights Rookie Pass.

The Rookie Pass is designed to educate new drivers, who may have just received their license, about the dangers of illegal street racing while giving them the much safer alternative of Street Fights, which also offers them the fun, social atmosphere of Bristol Dragway.

The Rookie Pass allows any driver, age 16 or 17, to race for free at any Street Fight event during the season.  And on Saturday, March 30, Bristol Dragway officials will host a seminar, which gives drivers a better idea of how Street Fights works and how track officials work to make the environment fun, but also safe, for everyone.  Newcomers to Street Fights are encouraged to ask Dragway officials questions while also receiving free practice runs before the event starts that afternoon.

If anyone misses the seminar, they can contact Bristol Dragway to receive the information at a later date.

At each Street Fights event this year there will be a designated Rookie Racer Lane so the Dragway’s experienced team members can identify rookies and help with any questions they might have.

To participate in the Rookie Pass program, drivers must be 16 or 17 years of age, they must have a current driver’s license and they must complete a minor waiver form, signed by both the participant and the parent/legal guardian (must be present to sign). This form also can be downloaded from www.bristoldragway.com but it must be completed and notarized before it will be accepted.

The Street Fights Rookie Pass also is only good for one driver per car.

Other special programs that kick off Saturday are the Perfect Light Night (this event earns a racer free admission if he or she is able to produce a perfect (.000) reaction time at any time throughout the night) and the MPH Club (this event rewards racers with a special “club” decal for their ride if they complete a run at, or quicker than, that night’s MPH requirements).

Street Fights gives everyone with a driver’s license the chance to race in legendary Thunder Valley. From import tuners and American muscle, to minivans and motorcycles, the Street Fights series welcomes anyone to challenge the track in their own vehicle.

This year’s schedule is comprised of 14 Street Fights events, with the majority of events run on Thursday evenings (gates open at 5 p.m., racing starts at 6 p.m.), with two slated for Saturdays (gates open at noon, racing starts at 1 p.m.).

Cost to participate is $10 to race, $15 for trailered cars (these cars will have a designated area for parking) and $5 for spectators.
