Big Money Bracket Races Return to Bristol Dragway, Event Expanded to Five Days
With last year's record-setting 450 cars participating in a single bracket race, event co-founders Kyle Seipel and Peter Biondo expanded the 2014 format to include three $20,000 races, two $15,000 races and more than $40,000 in racer giveaways.
"Because of how quickly this race has grown, we wanted to grow with it and make it more of an event," said Seipel. "Making it bigger and better seemed like the right thing to do, and many of our racers travel from longer distances and enjoy having one more day to race."
The event's traditional $20,000-to-win races still take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but are now bookended by a $15,000 Warm-Up race on Wednesday and a second $15,000-to-win event on Sunday.
The popular Racer Appreciation Party also returns on Saturday night with Chef Anthony Bertozzi serving up his famous barbecue, a live DJ, Race Tech raffle and more than $5,000 in giveaways.
"It is our goal to provide these racers with a smooth-running, stress-free racing environment," said Seipel. "Racing at Bristol gives us the opportunity to treat them like professionals, provide them with a lot more exposure than they are probably used to and ensure everyone has a good time."
The 1000-ft. races, a distance chosen as a compromise between the preferences of Northern and Southern racers, are broadcast over a live feed on www.BracketRaces.com. No preregistration is required for the event and racers may pay at the gate upon arrival.
Racers also have the opportunity to make final preparations for the big-money weekend at the Tuesday, May 13 Test-n-Tune. Cost to participate in the session is $50. Full hook-up camping is also available for $100, and racers may request a spot at the gate upon arrival.
